x402pay is an independent, plain-English resource for understanding the x402 payment protocol — what it is, how it works, and how to evaluate whether it's relevant to your API, business, or AI agent project.
We aren't affiliated with Coinbase, the x402 Foundation, or any facilitator, wallet, or network we write about. Where we compare providers, we aim to base it on their own published documentation, and we say clearly when something is our judgment rather than a documented fact.
x402 sits at an unusual intersection: a genuinely significant piece of emerging payment infrastructure, in a space — crypto — that's also full of noise, hype, and scams trading on real technology's name. We think there's value in a source that explains the protocol honestly, including its limitations, without either dismissing it or overselling it.
Protocol details, facilitator pricing, and network support all change quickly. We review and update pages periodically, but we'd rather you treat anything involving real money — pricing, integration steps, network choices — as a starting point to verify against current official documentation, not a final source.
